A top pro gave me good advice to always replace that dewalt base plate with a universal round plate for jig work. That avoids to issue of having to be careful on rotating the router as you turn the corners. On the failed attempts to follow an internal template, it would be better to add a support block to the router base the same thickness as the workpiece. I would use a 5/8” guide bush for this method to make it much easier to follow and keep the radius acceptably smaller.

Wait let me get this right; you could commercially print the directions and include them in the shipment and they would add nothing to the weight and hence the cost of the shipment. They will be printed on a commercial printer quickly and very inexpensively probably pennies. Or you can make everyone of us print them off ourselves on our own printer with a very expensive printer ink for the home printer taking all 10 or 15 minutes to load him down off the computer send them over there print them collect them staple them together because your SO CHEAP you can't include directions. not to mention what we DON"T HAVE A WORKING PRINTER. Or better we give it as a gift - but with no directions we look like a jerk, NOTE YOU saved paper. but the paper was still used at each one of our houses. WELLL I Ian't buying your product and I'm not gonna watch your stupid channel anymore cheap lazy bastards

Sick mod as always. I love watching your videos and love knowing I'm not wasting my time. The ideas, design and execution are always top notch and very useful. There have been so many ideas, details and general tips I can take straight to my hobby shop and implement and not have to rethink or reimplement from scratch to meet my needs. Keep on keeping on Tamar!

What a piece of shit! I'm sorry but I don't think that saw will produce anything close to fine woodworking. Between the fence and the miterslots . I would have to put it in the trash.

I love carpentry. I haven’t have any formal training and have mini Amal tools but creating and small projects and refurbishing old furniture I was wondering where you would start in regards to simple projects and what tools are a necessity to do simple builds til I can afford more expensive tools. I have milawaukee M20 tools like circular saw, hack saw, sander the obvious hammer drill impact and drill driver. I’d obviously love a planer, table saw and a miter but I can’t afford this as a single father to an autistic son so I’m Wondering what kind of furniture or cost effective tools I might be able to use to create something I might be proud of and god willing pass on this trait to my son. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My daughter has a question. If she has wood of varying thicknesses making up a cutting board, could she use this and a matching palm router and 2 rails to thickness plane then sand the cutting board by slowly lowering it each pass? She doesn’t own a full sized router. And what kind of bit?

I bet if you took a socket and helped that bushing in more you could get it flush with the bottom. Common trick for pressing stuff into other stuff. Also a pipe on the vice handle instead of pliers to get more leverage. Excellent work on the portabench BTW!

Thanks for sharing your process! Do you think you’d get similar results as the walnut on hickory or cherry? I have a dark wood antique secretary I want to bleach. (Not sure exactly what wood type it is yet) At the time of stripping I had entended to paint but since have a another piece that the color is close to your walnut sample w/ store bought bleach & your homemade mix.

Great vid! Just what a I needed. I recently bought the Taylor Tool Moxon vise kit. They no longer include instructions, just a QR code to a link which is overly complicated and not particularly clear. I've watched a few other vids about how to put it together but yours is by FAR the best. Clear, concise and thorough. Only thing I think I might do differently is to actually mount the vise to the end of my workbench rather than relying on clamps. I can see the advantage of both, depending on your workshop set up. Thanks so much!!

Your hose is in the wrong position. It should be at the bottom of that open area below the router life. Better yet is to slope it so that the dust/wood chips want to go towards your dust collection hose.

An interesting benefit of the up-down cut at an angle is that you are presenting more surface area for the glue up. A 45 degree angle or greater would technically give a much stronger bond.
